Today I have not many words to say.
I share with you something I have made,
Just a little detail………… a pin tuck.
I think you can call it:
“Spicing up the hemline”
The first top I made, I did the pin tuck by folding the fabric the width I want the pin tuck to be. (I sew it with a small zig zag stitch as I worked with stretch fabric). I made one big and one small pin tuck and ironed it downwards.
Plain and simple – just with a pin tuck!
The second top I made was even more simple.
I did exactly the same as on the first, but made two big pin tucks close to one another.
With the last top, I had to put more detail in, as it was for my little girl.
Here, I used a pin tuck foot on my machine. It is much easier to make pin tucks with a pin tuck foot. Keeping the same width on all pin tucks can be very difficult especially on stretch fabrics and on a slightly curved hemline.
This is what the foot looks like: (This is for my Bernina Activa 220.)
A very handy tool………………..I must say!
I added a happy bird or two with applique , played around with my free hand embroidery foot and made a few pin tucks!
A special garment indeed!!
PS. A good tip to remember…………….
If your top is too long, sew a pin tuck or two close to the hem. It is much easier than unpicking the hem, cutting it off and doing it all over!
You will be surprise with the new look you will have!
