We all love this time of the year – don’t we?
Bunnies, chocolate, colourful eggs…. The beginning of Autumn, holidays….
I asked my 6 year old girl the other day, what she thinks I must make for easter.
Her answer: ” Make a pillowcase!”
Obviously she had pretty eggs and bunnies in mind and if you give her half a chance, she will add a horse and a unicorn too.
But I decided to make an easy easter pillowcase for each of my kids, to explain more about easter to them.
What you need:
White 100% cotton –
Gold metallic embroidery thread
White embroidery thread
White fabric for the cross
Making the easter pillowcase:
Draw the picture on the fabric. (I used my frixion pen.)
Applique the cross. And sew it with blanket stitch.
Do the gold outline stitching with the metallic thread and the free hand embroidery foot.
Use a tacking foot with zig zag stitch for the body of the lamb. It gives a bulky, but loose and “wool like” effect.
Finish it off by making knots at the back with loose threads and cutting it neat.
Iron it well.
Finish the pillowcase.
This project is quick to make and the kids just love it!
Below are a few thoughts on easter – if you want to keep it for your kids – or for yourself.
Because in this ratrace with egg hunts and bunnies – we tend to forget what it is really about!
