I never thought I would make something with a dog on it!
…..and putting it on my Crazykitsy blog…………………….
But this is not for me…. just a present for a dog owner!
So this is for all the dog lovers out there!
I hope that this dog DIY handbag will inspire you today to do something creative over the holiday season…..
For your fabric pizza bag, you need a simple picture of something you love, a small piece of fabric – depending on the size of the bag, and lots of scraps in the colours you want it to be.
(The scraps can be anything from fabric off cuts to pieces of wool, ribbon and thread or lace – anything you can cut or fray into small pieces.
Trace the picture onto the background of your fabric
Cut everything you have in different size pieces and start building your fabric pizza –
This means – colouring your picture in with scrap cuttings.
When you are done – cover the fabric pizza with net (tulle) in a matching colour.
I used black here.
Make sure you do not move the pieces underneath the net and pin everything in place.
Put batting at the back. (The same they use for quilts)
Now you can use your sewing machine with the free hand embroidery foot.
It is like quilting –
Make curls and patterns or anything you like and sew (quilt) through your work. – There are no rules here.
That is why I say “pizza fabric” is like making your own art piece.
You can outline your main picture first and enhance the detail you want.
This is how mine looks like at the back:
This is the front of the fabric pizza
Lastly – you can make the bag or cushion or the product you have planned.
I made a simple bag – big enough for magazines, handwork or anything you need to take with you?
What are you going to create with this “Fabric pizza” technique?
