This is just an idea on how to do a bit more with applique work and make proper use of your tacking foot.
It is so much fun to try new decorative stitching with other sewing techniques.
In my previous post on – How to make a monster from a picture – I explained how to do decorative stitching with a tacking foot. (I made eyelashes for the monster’s eyes ).
Today I used the tacking foot to make hair for the little angel and dress detail.
You can find a tutorial on how to do applique here.
After the applique work was done, I made the hair of the little angel by sewing (with the tacking foot) a lot of rows next to each other but sewing one row stitches halfway on top of the previous row until the whole space was filled.
That is also a good way of securing the stitching. (make your stitch length very short as it will make the hair look thicker)
The skirt was done in the same way
I did some decorative stitches on the edge of the pillowcase just for detail. The lace was just to make it more girly.
The blue pillowcase is just ordinary applique work, but with decorative stitching with a tacking foot, you can do a lot more and give the effect of 3D.
I hope this will give you a fresh idea to play with!
Have a great sewing day!
