Bunting always reflects happiness, no matter where you hang it!
Outside or inside – it makes one feel welcome!
If you search on the internet or on Pinterest, you get endless options and ideas and when I see things like that, may daydreaming starts and I have to force myself back into reality.
This bunting I made is hanging now in our family room and although my husband said it looks like the circus , I enjoy it…..
Planning a picnic on valentines day with bunting everywhere was an idea…..but with the summer heat that we are experiencing at the moment, a picnic on the carpet in the family room sounds like a better option…..
It is so easy to make – everyone can do it.
This is what I have used:
Paper from an old love story book dating somewhere back in 1947.
(Paper and fabric together is a bit unusual – but sewing it together was quite fun.)
Scrap pieces of fabric and burlap.
A piece of rough string.
You can decide the size and length.
I know you can download patterns from the internet for this, but I really think you can do this without it…..
Cut your fabric/burlap in triangular shapes and add the scraps to design each one unique.
Then you use this wonderful free motion machine foot to play with.
Every machine has its own type so just ask your nearest machine dealer which one is suitable for your needs. (This is one of my accessories I use the most…)
With this foot, you can make hearts and curls, drawings and doodles – so be creative – enjoy every stitch!
*No rules for the free motion machine foot*
Join it with the string/rope of your choice.
Fold it around the rope and cut the corners neat. Here you must use your normal machine foot again to make a straight stitch.
You can join them one by one (end it off at the beginning and the end) so that you can move them on the string and space them apart as needed.
So this is it! Bunting for the house, the garden, the special occasion or the special person in your life.
But most of all – enjoy your sewing!
