There are just so many things to do with a piece of fabric.
Remember to keep all your off cuts. I do not throw anything away.
I made my little girl a purple bell bottom and a white top with cotton lycra.
A few flowers with applique and flower buttons for detail……………….. and she had a one of a kind outfit!
Let me show you how easy it is to do applique on clothes:
1: Draw the flowers onto applique paper. (find applique paper at any sewing/fabric shop)
2: Iron the paper flowers onto the wrong side of the fabric.
3: Cut the flowers out, pull off the thin layer paper on the back and iron it onto the right side of the product you are making.
I used my free hand embroidery machine foot to sew them on. It gives an informal look. You can also use the blanket stitch on your machine or even do the blanket stitch by hand.
Place the buttons where you want them and secure it with sellotape so that you can sew them with your machine.
That is it!!!
I showed it to my little girl – (the one that hates it to try anything on that I make)
She was thrilled.
She put it on immediately and did not want to take it off……………..
She also showed it off this morning at school…………….
When you do applique on clothes, the type of fabric does not matter.
The applique paper is soft and adjust to any type of fabric.
